Vinyasa Yoga - Asana synchronised with breath.

In Vinyasa, transitioning is as important as the posture.

Vinyasa is a very freeing and powerful style of Yoga. It is the most post popular class in most studio schedules. It is characterised by movement linked by a single breath. One movement. One breath. Sequences are linked by Vinyasa, or flows.

The transition are equally important. It is perhaps the most challenging of formats for a teacher. It has a speed and breath work similar to Ashtanga, but it is not limited to memorised posture sequences.

Once you are able to teach a Vinyasa class... you can teach anything with confidence. You will learn how to build challenging, dynamic sequences.

Mandatory Training YTT 200

Mysore Vinyasa

Once you understand how to tach Vinyasa, you can learn how to teach Mysore Vinyasa. You will teach as you regularly would a Vinyasa. Then you will include intervals where students are allowed to explore more deeply, either repeating the sequences taught to them, or moving themselves through a series of postures from which they feel there is imminent growth available.

It is the most freeing of all the yogic practices.

You will learn how to establish trust with the students. It is where you will likely find you most authentic teacher voice.

Prerequisite : Must have completed Vinyasa Study or have an already solid foundation of Vinyasa Flow.

The Ashtanga Modified Series created by David Swenson.

Ashtanga Modified Series

Timing Your Ashtanga Module

The Ashtanga Modified Series will first be studied and practiced using the 45 minute, then the 60 minute and finally the 90 minute format. This is a challenging component of your training but assuredly, a very valuable part. Not only will it teach you the series order, it will also provide you with the language skillsets to move forward as a competent teacher.

Dates : Saturday September 7 - Sunday September 29

Times : Saturdays from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

           Sundays from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Ideally, the Ashtanga Series Module should be your first module. Ashtanga needs a concise use of language skillsets to move forward as a competent teacher.

It is the primary foundation upon which this program was created. Please become acquainted with the text, Ashtanga Yoga Manual | David Swenson prior to the Module or Session start date.

Is ānūruh|Yoga an Ashtanga Yoga Training School?

We are not an Ashtanga Yoga School. While we follow the 8 Limbs of Yoga espoused by Ashtanga, we are teaching an Ashtanga Vinyasa Modified Primary Series. Ashtanga progressed through 6 different and increasingly more and more challenging practices, it is a tremendous place where students and teachers can turn an eye inward to the Self.

The language is crisp and concise. The series, includes Sun Salutations A + B, Fundamental Postures, Standing Postures, Seated Series, and Closing Postures. It's such a fabulous foundation on which to learn postures, intentions, language and breath.

Anatomy Level I + II

Having a solid grasp of the anatomy of the human body will

change not only how you teach but how you yourself practice.

Anatomy Level I

Anatomy Level II

I suspect that some of you may feel that this subject matter is a little... dry? But it is essential to have a solid grasp of the human anatomy. After all, we are moving peoples' bodies. And, our students trust to have the knowledge we need to move their bodies safely.

20 Hour Mandatory Training YTT 200 Intensive

Anatomy Levels II picks up where Level II left off. We continue our journey, now delving more deeply in the human anatomy.

This is a YACEP program course.

20 Hour Session Cost : $250

How Does Having a Strong Anatomy Foundation Help Us As Teachers + Students?

When we have an understanding of the limits and wonders of the human body, only then are we truly face to face with our reality. Wishing will not change bone to bone ratio, or range of motion. When you grasp the truth of bone and muscle, your practice will change. How you teach will change.

Comprehending the finite limits of the skeleton forces us to see what is available and what is not. Anatomy and your wants to look a certain way  will always struggle for the upper hand. Spoiler alert! Anatomy always wins.

Hatha + Yin Exquisitely beautiful practices.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha, the mother of all yoga. Regardless the style or school we study or practice in, all yoga schools, studios and formats are the children of Hatha.

It is an exceptionally beautiful and grounding practice.

Yin Yoga

Yin is such a beautiful and healing practice.  It encourages us to turn inward, to wrap around our discomfort, and to soften. In our Yin Yoga program we pursue a classical styling, utilising gravity rather than using force, created by Paulie Zink in the 1970's.

Meditation Levels I + !!

So many benefits + so many ways to meditate.

Meditation Level I

Meditation is not a magical dimension available only to the most holy of monks and gurus. We all can benefit from spending time with ourself.

Working through 5 different maps, if you will, you will begin to layer on greater and greater understanding.
